America West Maintence

If these folks are to be believed the FAA has threatned to ground a number of America West Airlines A/C until it can be proved by America West Airlines that certain maintence has been accomplished on their A/C.
Aparrently America West Airlines cannot prove to the satisfaction of FAA that outside contractors/vendors have performed certain specified inspections/maintence on their A/C. Aparrently this dust up over maintence activities/practices at America West Airlines was the result of an FAA review of maintence activities at a number of airlines, one of which was America West Airlines, after the Alaska Air incident raised questions about general maintence practices at Pax Airlines in general.
Allegedly some flights have been cancled by America West Airlines because documentation of specified maintence having been performed on that particular A/C was not acceptable to FAA.

America West Airlines, US Airways or United Airlines? Part 2

Q: Wanting to fly one way from SFO to LAS in January. Have done a few searches (Expedia, Orbitz, etc) and the prices are very similar (if not the same) between America West Airlines, US Airways and United Airlines. Which is the better airline out of the three to fly with? Do any include meals or do you have to pay on each airline (especially America West Airlines)? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

A: America West bought US Airways and merged as US Airways several months ago ... of the choices you mentioned I'd pick United since it seems more US Air flights get canceled on the routes we fly (we have FF accounts with both United and US Air) but as others point out it's not THAT big a difference, especially for a single short flight.
Certainly nothing like the diff between say Quantas and Ansett (which I flew four times in Oz between Cairns and Sydney and three times it was really really bad :)
